Surgery
Surgery is often necessary in our pets for a variety of reasons. While under our care, your pet will be placed on warm blankets for the surgical procedure. Additionally, the patient will be closely monitored throughout the surgical procedure using an EKG, heart rate and respiratory monitors, temperature monitor, oxygen saturation and blood pressure monitoring. Further, patients will receive preoperative, intra-operative and post-operative pain management as deemed necessary to assure adequate pain management. Upon completion of the procedure, you will be called so as to ease your mind. The patient will then remain under our supervision until they are released in your care.
All Patient surgeries are preformed in our Surgery Suite. (pictured above) Our Surgery Suite meets all the guideline requirements implemented by the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board and is inspected accordingly.
3 Common Animal Surgeries
Spaying and Neutering
Represents one of the most common procedures for dogs and cats. Removal of the reproductive organs can drastically reduce or even eliminate the risk of many illnesses, including reproductive cancers, while also reducing anxiety, frustration and aggressive behavior. We recommend spaying or neutering your pet before their first heat. Surgical sterilization does a great deal of good both for your pet and for the animal community.
Tooth Extractions
Tooth extractions make up a large number of veterinary surgeries. Fortunately, you can help prevent the need for this procedure by taking good care of your pet's teeth. We suggest regular dental examinations and cleanings to help your pet's teeth remain healthy. We can also teach you how to brush your pet's teeth at home for added protection along with a healthy diet.
Skin Surgeries
These cases include removals of benign and malignant skin tumors or other masses. Most of the masses removed through surgery prove benign. Skin ulcerations or abscesses may also require surgical intervention before proper healing can take place. Regular grooming can help detect a skin problem before it becomes serious. Always ensure your pets best overall health with regular checkups.
