1. Why should I choose a mobile vet?

We realize that you have many choices when it comes to selecting your pet's healthcare provider. But how many of those practices offer you the convenience of having your pet seen in the comfort of your home? Companion Animal Veterinary Services Inc. wants you to experience the personal attention that you and your pet deserve. It's more convenient for owners to have their pets cared for at home where animals are more relaxed in a familiar setting. Additionally, some pets experience anxiety when placed in a car for a vet visit. Give us a try! I think you will be glad you did...

2. How can I prepare my pet on the day of their appointment?

Choose a safe place to access your pet, and have them ready for their scheduled appointment time. You may need to contain them in a room or perhaps a pet taxi. Once we gain access to your home we will be ready for our scheduled appointment.

3. Do I need my pet records from my prior vet?

Medical records and medical images are the property of the veterinarian or veterinary facility that originally ordered their preparation, and may be released upon request by the owner or authorized agent ONLY. All medical records are required by Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. prior to scheduling an appointment. Please complete

Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. will not request your pet’s medical records due to the policies set forth.

4. What expenses should I expect for my pet?

One question many pet parents have is how much to expect for expenses. From routine appointments and vaccinations to treating a health concern, Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. can help you understand what to budget routinely for and how to plan for more significant expenses like surgeries.

The only additional fee Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. will charge is a trip fee. Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. reserves the right to charge additional fees outside of the surrounding area that is within the realm of our client coverage. Companion Animal Veterinary Services Inc. is located in Southern Forsyth County, North Carolina. We are able to serve most areas within the Triad Area: from our home base in Winston-Salem, where it is easy to access servicing the following counties: Guilford, Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Stokes, and Yadkin.

5. What are the policies for cancellations?

Description

“No Show” shall mean any client who is unavailable for a scheduled appointment. “Same Day Cancellation” shall mean any client who cancels an appointment less than 24 hours before their scheduled appointment.

Policy

It is the policy of Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. to monitor and manage appointment no-shows and late cancellations. The goal of Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. is to provide excellent care to each patient in a timely manner. If it is necessary to cancel an appointment, clients are required to call or leave a message at least 24 hours before their appointment time. Notification allows the practice to better utilize appointments for other patients in need of prompt medical care.

Procedure

I. A client is notified of the appointment “No-Show, Late, & Cancellation Policy” at the time of scheduling. This policy can and will be provided in writing to patients at their request.

II. Established clients:

Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time.

In the event a patient arrives late as defined by “late arrival” to their appointment and cannot be seen by the doctor on the same day, they will be rescheduled for a future home visit, if available. If appointments are not yet available for their doctor, a reminder will be placed for the patient to call to make a future appointment once the schedule opens.

In the event, a client is unavailable for a scheduled appointment incurred three (3) documented “no-shows” and/or “same-day cancellations,” the client may be subject to dismissal from Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC.  and will be unable to schedule any future appointments. The client’s chart is reviewed, and dismissals are determined by a doctor or practice manager only, with no exceptions.

III. New patients:

Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time.

In the event of a no-show. The client will be required to provide payment prior to the scheduled visit.  Once the examination fee per pet has been paid, we will allow scheduling for another appointment.

In the event a patient arrives late as defined by “late arrival” to their appointment, Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. reserves the right to request the owner to reschedule for a further date.

In the event of three (3) documented “no-shows” or “same-day cancellations,” the patient may be subject to dismissal from Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC.  The patient’s chart is reviewed, and dismissals are determined by a doctor or practice manager only, with no exceptions, in accordance with Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. guidelines.

Procedure/Surgeries

All procedures and surgeries are confirmed within 24 hours. Due to the nature of our practice, our surgery days are designated days of the week. It is important to utilize these days for said procedures/surgeries. In the event a patient cancels after that 24-hour window, Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. reserves the right to access a cancelation fee.

6. Is payment expected upon completion of services?

Payments via cash (or) check are expected after each appointment is completed.

7. What type of food should I feed my pet?

There are different types of pet food, like dry, wet, and grain-free foods. Companion Animal Veterinary Services Inc. can help you identify the best choice for your dog or cat.

Different foods provide various health benefits, from supporting dental health to managing weight gain. Examples of such diets include: medical needs diets such as for cystitis, stone dissolution diets, neuro diets, skin and allergy diets, joint diets, sensitive stomach diets.. We can also offer suggestions based on your pet’s age, as nutritional needs change throughout your pet’s life.

8. How often should my pet get exercise?

Ask your vet how much exercise your pet should get routinely. The answer often depends on your pet’s age, breed, and general health.

Your vet can also help you decide what type of activities are best. While puppies and adult dogs may benefit from a walk or run, kittens and cats can usually get the exercise they need with toys that prompt fun and active play.

9. What common diseases are my pets susceptible to?

We can help you understand what diseases your pet could be at risk for, from heart disease to dental disease to conditions that can be avoided with routine vaccinations.

Once you know the risks, you can better help your pet stay safe and healthy from the vast majority of preventable diseases and conditions.

10. When should my pet get bloodwork done?

Bloodwork can help manage your pet’s health throughout its life. From annual heartworm testing to using bloodwork for diagnostics for health problems or before surgeries. Ask us how to best utilize a blood test or tests to maintain your pet’s health status.

11. Should I brush my pet’s teeth? When do they need a dental cleaning?

Dental health is a huge part of maintaining your cat’s and dog’s quality of life. Ask us how the long-term use of brushing at home or professional dental cleanings can help your pet avoid dental disease.

12. What monthly preventatives does my pet need?

What does your pet need every month to maintain the best health? We can guide you through recommendations like flea and tick control and heartworm prevention.

13. Is my pet up to date on their vaccinations?

Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. can guide you on what vaccines your pet has and when to update them. Ask Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. if you have questions about what vaccines your pet needs to stay protected.

14. Are my pet’s teeth healthy?

Dental hygiene and management are critical to maintaining your pet’s quality of life. During your pet’s routine examinations, Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. can provide insights into your pet’s teeth and any concerns that may need addressing.

Catching problems early can help ensure quality health and allow time for preventative care like dental cleanings.

15. Is my pet a healthy weight?

Ask Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. if your pet is at a healthy weight. If not, we will be able to guide you to help you solve any weight-related health problem through food, exercise, and more.

16. What flea/tick medications are recommended?

Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. can provide guidance on routine care that your pet may need, including flea and tick medications. From topical solutions to oral medications, ask us what solution is best for your pet and protect them from dangerous parasites and discuss the pros and cons of long-term use.

17. Is their behavior normal?

Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. can help you address unwanted behavior issues your pet may be experiencing. In some cases, behavioral problems may result from a health problem. We can complete diagnostics like a blood test or urine test or discuss other solutions to helping your pet improve their quality of life.

Aggressive dog behaviors may require the assistance of ongoing behavior modification or the help of behavior experts. Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. will likely have input from local experts who can provide proper training and tools for aggression, desensitization training, and other training solutions for your pet.

18. When should I spay or neuter them?

Companion Animal Veterinary Services, INC. will suggest the best time to spay or neuter your pet. Six months is often recommended, but depending on your pet’s specific circumstances or age, we may recommend waiting a little longer.

We may also access accordantly if you adopted an adult pet or never completed the surgery when your pet was younger.

Spaying and neutering can help keep your pet healthy, reduce unwanted behavior, and ensure your dog or cat doesn’t end up with unexpected litters. 

19. Should I microchip my pet?

A microchip can help you find your dog or cat if they are ever lost. Ask us about the cost and process of microchipping your pet. You can often protect your pet with a microchip during a routine appointment or surgery.
