Comprehensive Examinations

Companion Animal Veterinary Services offers comprehensive examinations to help evaluate your pet's overall health. Routine physical examinations are done on an annual basis for younger patients and twice yearly on our senior and super-senior pets! This way we can detect potential problems early, before they develop into serious illnesses that may require more extensive treatment. Additionally, we can monitor chronic conditions more closely.  We tend to see more elderly pets in their homes as they can no longer travel due to arthritis and pain or that it's simply more convenient to owners.

Seniors and super-seniors are often given palliative care in the comfort of their home for conditions ranging from arthritis, pain management to cancer care. End of life care for our older pets is demanding on us emotionally and can be very stressful! By having your pets seen at home, the pet feels more safe and less threatened. Consider this as your pet moves through their life....

Why is it so important for Wellness Exams?

With regular wellness exams, we are better able to ensure that your cat or dog is growing properly, catch early signs of illness or disease and provide at-home care steps to help keep them happy and healthy. Our foundation towards preventing a serious health condition is with preventative care, we can determine your pets overall health inside and out in the comfort of their own home.

During your pet’s routine wellness exam, they will be thoroughly examined. Starting with their skin and coat, teeth and gums, paws and nails, eyes and ears and their internal organs as well. We may also request a fecal sample and blood samples to complete additional testing. If you have any other concerns for their health we will discuss these at this time. It is our goal to maintain the best understanding of your loving pet with routine visits.
